nVidia GPU Egg Fryer

Remember SETI running out of compute power and outsourcing computations to citizens' screensavers?

Why not national labs do the same things with nVidia GPUs - you buy a GPU and use it when someone needs some computational work done - the heat generated fries your egg.

Think about it - the Carnot cycle - you generate heat - which then boils water and the steam does the mechanical work - and you have to use a coolant to get back to water so you can repeat. Key point in this new idea is that your coolant is the egg that's been sitting cool in the fridge.

High Tech University

Here's my concept for a new university. GOOG should put in $1b to fund this.

Offer reverse engineering services - which require all kinds of fancy equipment. The idea - kids working on reverse engineering the latest stuff are now ready to extend the state of the art. How can you beat this?

Cops as School Teachers

Cops on the nasty school may be able to curb some issues.. But, do kids really get the benefits?

How about having cops who have a passion for teaching, and can use their enforcement skills when called upon to do so?

If you see a cop trying to teach you math because he truly knows how much in your interest it is to master the basic skills, you might actually pay attention. You think?

The Version of Alexa that Goldman Sachs Wants AMZN to Make

I just assume the folks at GS are busier than the rest of us mere mortals. So, if I could use this one, I'm sure they'd love it as well..

Your presence is required in a meeting you can join via Skype. Okay. Now, you, like the successful millionaires at GS want to multitask. So, here's the wish list :

You want to be able to mute the sound.
You want to be able to mute your microphone.
When your name is mentioned, you want the preceding speech transcribed and showing up on the screen - of the PC and your phone. You might step away from the desk, so you want to be able to get the alert on both devices.
Your name might be mentioned as "That's what I was told by Robert" OR "Isn't that the case Robert?" OR "Robert? Did you hear from XYZ?" You get the idea. You don't really want to be in this meeting, but, when you need to be, you need to be clued in - the question needs to be available visually so you can quickly get in the game.
So, there's got to be bluetooth connectivity so YOU don't have to listen but your gadget needs to.
There's got to be an alert mechanism.
Using machine learning or other AI, it should be able to predict, even before the question arises that the 2 principal interlocutors will soon be calling on a third party.
Nice? Go for it Goldman Jocks!

Drone Armies to End Flight Crashes

Is it possible to use groups of drones stationed strategically along flight routes to ensure that, when needed, they can take to the air and ensure that an aircraft in trouble will have a soft-landing?

Large Scale Noise Canceler - A Product We Needed Yesterday

Can you set up a sound system that'll ensure you don't need to don earplugs or mini-speakers in your ears and still not have to hear the sound of your neighbour's air-conditioner?

Why not get our great minds working on this one?

Idiots @ Google Maps, Please Fix

How does the world's most valuable brand with thousands of the smartest people miss something like this?

I had used Google Maps to navigate to a certain location (A) in town a few weeks back.
Then, more recently, I had gone out of town (B) - and, you guessed it, used Maps a lot..
Can you guess already?
Yesterday, I wanted to go to location A again and, went into Browse from Recent History hoping to find it.

Considering the phone knows where you are, do you think you want the locations that are in town to be displayed at the top or all the crap you searched for in (B) to show up ahead of (A)? I don't get it. This is simple, basic stuff. Idiots!

Not sure what's on their backlog and why they don't disclose their bug list or upcoming features list so that users can proactively move to other solutions if possible. Far as I know, failing to pause YouTube when Maps needs to announce something is still an open issue..
